ABOUT
About Lewis's Horned Stag Beetle
Glossy all over the body, with distinctively shaped mandibles, it spends the whole year inside rotten wood. It can be found year-round in fallen oak and chinquapin logs and under leaf litter. Telling males and females apart is difficult. On Amami it has a very localized distribution and rarely comes to tree sap, making it hard to find.
