About Small Seashore Pseudoscorpion relatives

A small pseudoscorpion that lives on the seashore. *Nipponogarypus enoshimaensis* is about 2.5mm long, black and glossy, and was considered to be distributed on coasts from Enoshima in Kanagawa Prefecture southward, but a 2024 paper separated the populations of the Satsunan and Ryukyu Islands as a distinct species, *N. okinoerabensis* (originally described as a subspecies from Okinoerabu-jima). On Amami it has been photographed in March and October, but it is not yet known whether it can be seen at other times of the year.

Please enjoy Amami's wildlife through photographs. Some species are protected by law or local ordinance, and capturing or removing them is prohibited.
