About Japanese Seashore Pseudoscorpion

Body length 3.5-5mm, with females slightly larger. The body is greyish brown overall, while the pincer-bearing pedipalps and the carapace are reddish brown. It has four eyes. Distributed from Rishiri Island in Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu to the Ryukyu Islands. It lives on the shore from the high-tide line to the splash zone, hiding in washed-up seaweed, under stones and in rock crevices. In the Ryukyu Islands it has been found under sea snail shells. Nocturnal. It was long placed in the genus *Garypus*, but a 2020 paper moved it to the newly established genus *Anchigarypus*. On Amami it has been photographed in February and March, but it is not yet known whether it can be seen at other times of the year.
