About Iriomote Micro Water Strider
A small aquatic insect about 1.7-1.9mm long. Found in the Ryukyu Islands (from the Amami group to the Yaeyama Islands) and Taiwan. Seen in pools formed by seepage beside mountain forest roads; a mating behavior in which males guard females for extended periods has been reported in academic research.
