About Short-winged Raspy Cricket

Body length 12-24mm in males and 17-27mm in females. A medium-sized raspy cricket whose wings, as its name suggests, are very small and inconspicuous. It is distributed in warm regions from Shizuoka Prefecture westward to the Nansei Islands. Its body is orange-tinged brown. By day it hides in a nest of leaves bound together with silk spun from its mouth, and at night it comes out to catch and eat other insects.
