About Round-spot Raspy Cricket

An arboreal raspy cricket found on Takara Island, Amami Oshima, and Kakeroma Island. Its antennae are far longer than its body. By day it hides in a nest of leaves bound together with its own silk, emerging at night to be active. Strongly carnivorous, it preys on other insects. It is very wary and difficult to spot.

Please enjoy Amami's wildlife through photographs. Some species are protected by law or local ordinance, and capturing or removing them is prohibited.
